126648 2003-03-08 12:12:00 hello there folkz

my mate had just uninstalled windows 98 from his pc, where there was no worries with the sounds..evrything OK. now he has uninstalled windows 98, and installed windows XP. the problem is that all the sound has a stutter effect to it, any sounds at all whether they be windows system sounds or playing mp3s on windows media player all have a damn ploody annoying stutter sound effect, sort of thing you might experience where you were playing mp3s and at the same time you loaded a program that needed some decent pc juice to get it going..eg ulead photo express, and your music goes all start stop for a few seconds..well this is what happens..except its anytime there is sound..
now the really unusual thing is, if youmove the mouse at the same time youre playing the music, then its perfect..stop moving the mouse and its back to the stutter effect..reallllllly wierd aye..! i cant see what the connection the mouse has to do with the sound.. but there is

okay..does anyone out there have a clue??!!!

my mates pc specs

amd athlon 1600 xp
1 gig sd ram
60 gig 7200 rpm HD
m/board has onboard sound/graphics (could this be why?)

126649 2003-03-08 12:27:00 Have you been to the windows update site and seen if there are any driver updates.

Also try the drivers from the soundcards manufacturers website.
