126552 2003-03-08 06:21:00 How do I go about making my fonts eg. Century Schoolbook bold Italic - Smooth. I have already checked it under the effects in display. Yet this seems to have not had effect.... Kibito (623)

126555 2003-03-08 11:18:00 I've tried "smooth" fonts in Adobe Photoshop. Think the fonts were clearer without it.

Italics are harder to read than un-italic fonts and smoothing them could make it worse.

Can you try without italics or a different font?

126556 2003-03-08 11:23:00 =/

Let me state my prob again..

I have century schoolbook font which I always use. I just reinstalled Win 2k pro again, not fresh, after changing gfx card to something pretty much same and all.

and when I chat etc I always use CS on bold italic. It's normally very smooth and i have the smooth screen fonts checked under display effects.

But now its not smooth any more its all pixely..

Is there a way to get round this. I know there is, because i've had this prob so many times but I never remember how to fix it.

126557 2003-03-08 11:25:00 Did you change your screen resolution to a higher resolution or is it at a lower one?

Right click empty spot on desktop and check the properties.

126560 2003-03-09 00:39:00 you say you have the smooth screen fonts checked but are you sure it's set to ClearType and not Standard. There is a big difference between the quality of the text on my monitor (19" CRT) if it's on Standard instead of ClearType.

Full instructions (for WinXP - sorry, i don't have Win2K - they should be pretty similar though):
In the Control Panel open Display Properties. Click on the Appearance tab, click the Effects button (bottom right of the box). There should be a tick next to "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts" and in the box below it should be set to "ClearType". Click OK, OK.
