1331960 2013-03-08 06:03:00 Bit of a strange question I guess (and as I write this I can't help but think it's a bit of a Deja Vu... hope I haven't asked this before) but I was wondering if any of you happened to know of, or would be able to put me in touch with someone who may know of a decent mobile parts wholesaler?

Previously, due to low demand and the broad range of parts needed, I sourced all the materials from eBay. That wasn't too bad but finding a reputable seller and quality products is a pain, and you end up waiting a long time to get things in since they are shipped via HK Post (rather slow air mail)

Now I'm looking to tidy up my service options a bit, especially as I'm at uni, I can't just sit around waiting for 3x weeks for parts to arrive if I don't have them in stock and also because I'm looking to provide more of a reputable service than I was previously. In my searching I haven't managed to come across a decent parts supplier. Most of the suppliers I have seen market to the DIY home job, with the parts priced quite high (about $60-$80 for an iPhone 4 screen) which is what I usually charge for the whole repair.

A decent range of iPhone parts would be useful too, since most people at uni (a ridiculously high percentage, more than 8/10!!!) have iPhones, mostly 4/S but a lot of 5's as well.

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction :)

On a side note, I'm VERY impressed with the durability of the HTC Trophy 7, a bit of a legacy windows phone I guess but the missus dropped hers regularly on concrete. I always winced in horror and expected it to be broken, but not a smash... until today. Very solid crunch, but only a single horizontal crack in the glass. I'm impressed HTC, I call it the Nokia of smartphones. Given its performance to date I think its worth repairing, rather than replacing with a more up to date 2nd hand model. Plus it's cheaper. Still amazed by its durability though. It has stunned me!

1331962 2013-03-08 07:43:00 Thanks for that plod, certainly a decent looking phone. That's one of the marvellous things about what M$ did with WP, enforce minimum specs and force the manufacturers to update/support their handsets. Definitely worth $300, especially when you consider the cruddy android phones available at that price.

I might add I worded that thing about the Trophy appallingly, it didn't break today, only cracked the glass.

1331963 2013-03-08 07:55:00 In the Nokia days I use to buy parts (and accessories) from ebay stores (phones.stores.shop.ebay.co.uk) and their related resellers/companies/agencies, often from the UK. So I think there is a vast range of mobile wholesale (or near equivalent) suppliers, including oem's but of course shipping times won't agree with you.

NZ site search (www.google.co.nz esale&oq=site:.co.nz+buy+purchase+%22iphone+parts%22+who lesale&gs_l=serp.3...121354.124259.9.125635.9.9.0.0.0.4.4 32.2591.2-6j2j1.9.0.les%3B..0.0...1c.1.5.psy-ab.6pFHe2TKTR4&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&fp=fd0abeaef8f4cf40&biw=1024&bih=513) appears to have not much (seems costly) wholesale parts, which you know. Maybe review Apple's approved suppliers (www.apple.com) and manufacturing facilities and see if you can extract anything (e.g. cross referencing/reverse search, etc) useful from the listings from their pdf file. 1331964 2013-03-08 08:20:00 Cheers for that info Kahwai, I'll look into getting in touch with one of the OEM suppliers perhaps. Could be a bit of a mission though!

Top hit from that NZ site search $150 for just the screen

1331965 2013-03-08 09:25:00 Problem you may have, wholesalers usually wont sell to the general public. You may have to be a business or certified repairer.

Other wise try www.systec.co.nz (www.systec.co.nz)
