1306187 2012-10-10 05:14:00 Came across a free tool last night from rebootpro, they have some good free software.

One I tried today was a create a USB bootable Drive from ISO or DVD wintobootic (reboot.pro)Tried it today with windows 7 & 8 ISO's, works nice, easy to use with no "fiddly" settings. Only have two options, select the USB drive ( did it automatically) and point it at the source, then agree to a couple of warning and away it goes.

1306188 2012-10-10 06:38:00 So that makes a sort of Windows live USB drive like a bootable Linux USB drive? How do you get around the licencing then? gary67 (56)
1306189 2012-10-10 06:48:00 No its not a live OS, it allows you to make a bootable USB drive to install windows instead of using a DVD, in case the PC doesn't have a Optical Drive, + it installs faster from USB than DVD as well. wainuitech (129)

1306191 2012-10-10 07:29:00 I have done that before to make a "clean" restore partition (eg not full of crap like the OEM ones) boots windows and installs, all drivers etc are preconfigured and I put a few useful tools on it. Really great for pulling clean replacements corrupt files (like when I buggered up the system32 folder :D ) and having an accessible drive from the windows recovery console. On my previous lappy I had an option to boot Puppy linux so I could fiddle around when windows was really stuffed. Saved my ass when I was in a pinch a few times!! The Error Guy (14052)

1306194 2012-10-11 02:03:00 Just following on from my post above, installed W8 to a USB drive. (USB2 160GB external) Using the instructions I posted in the link -- it works damn nice, booting directly from the USB drive, you can plug it into any PC that's capable of booting from USB ( and hardware supports W8) and away it goes. wainuitech (129)
