1306142 2012-10-09 23:43:00 Hi there. Im after some recommendations for a new camera.
I specifically want a superzoom, usable macro mode, image stabilization, & must record videos to at least 720 resolution
Also a camera that uses AA would be preferred , just for convenience .

I dont take alot of photos, but I would get more use from a good video mode. Ive seen in some of the tests that some of these 'cheaper' camera's have zoom issues in movie mode.

Any recommendations ?? I have at the moment a 6year old Canon PowerShot S3 IS
Im considering a Fuji S2980 at around $250 locally.

Ive looked on trademe, but the camera's seem either quite old or overpriced: allmost the same as new pricing
Cheers

1306143 2012-10-10 00:24:00 I had a Fuji and was extremely pleased to give it away (to a bloke who rapidly gave it away too), that is why I now prefer Nikon, or currently Cannon. The higher priced Fujis don't seem to infuriate the users quite so much. R2x1 (4628)

Hi thanks for that.
Im after at least 10x zoom (not digital zoom).

Are the $300 fuji's to be avoided, or all brands more or less just as bad at that price ??
Cheers

I own one of these. Best camera I have ever had. If you can go the extra it is worth it. They have come down around $200 since I bought mine, probably as there is a T30 just released.

1306148 2012-10-10 03:24:00 I am a Canon man as well Trev. My wife now has the TZ20 and I bought myself a G 1X. Beautiful camera with the odd drawback but easier to carry than an SLR with a sensor almost the size of the Canon LR's.

1306149 2012-10-10 03:32:00 I got my Cannon from Trade Me yesterday, 12x zoom, 28mm wide angle, and 12.3 MP. (Low mileage, and 1 careful owner who never focused it beyond 15M until it was thoroughly run in.) I'm liking it a lot. R2x1 (4628)
1306150 2012-10-10 07:09:00 Hi, I have just recently upgraded my camera to a Panasonic DMC-ZS10.
This is the american version of the NZ TZ20. It is exactly the same
but because of the number difference it is not so popular. I paid
$305 from a shop over the North shore about 6 months ago when all
the regular stores were around $400. Evan today NL price is $379.
The specs:- 24mm wide angle, 16 optical zoom but you can reduce
the pixels to 5mb and then have 32 optical zoom, video is 1080.
lithium ion battery, I am very impressed with the video.
