1305200 2012-10-05 09:17:00 IMO the appeal of anything for sale would be that it is cheap/fairly priced. On TM you see a lot of pricing that is way out of line. Here I would imagine people who know what they are doing would be able to price things intelligently and provide full details about the item (unlike some users on dedicated auction/sales sites). Encouraging things like the 70% rule would be a lot easier on a dedicated computer b/s/t forum than on a site like TM. I guess you could say that the main advantage would be the sellers would likely be knowledgeable in the area of the items they are selling.

However I see the main use of the forum being wanted to buy's. It's infinitely easier to say what you need and have the seller come to you than trawling through pages of incorrectly detail things on other sites. E.g. older/legacy hardware, some items can be hard to find because no one lists them on places like TM but many members may just have said item setting on a shelf not being used and they could be prepared to either give it away or sell it for a quite low price. Giving items away for free would also be quite common imo as "one mans junk is another mans treasure" lots of users have no use for older hardware even though there are people who still use computers based on the stuff.

As a side note I would also be happy to help moderate the B/S/T forum(s). I wouldn't minding writing or helping write some basic rules and doing things like moving threads to a sales completed forum and checking that threads are inline with B/S/T rules.

Also: for those of you who do computer repairs and sales as a job or hobby; I would like to know what you guys have sitting in those boxes out back that your spouse cringes at everytime they see them  And thats yet another reason I think a dedicated forum would be good. Not all of us (or our families) can afford brand new

If the dedicated forum idea gets passed over, then can we at least lighten up the rules on posting FS / WTB. I mean having to ask a moderator before we start a WTB or FS thread is like putting your hand up and asking to go pee :groan:

You may. But wash your hands before you come back.

Perhaps allow comments about silly/unreasonable pricing then , if a 4sale forum is added.
That would certainly add a bit of fun.

Surprisingly, on some of the trademe items, you'd think that after 2 years of trying to sell the one item, with no bids, that most normal people would realize the price might be a TAD high :)
