1331861 2013-03-08 23:49:00 In the Wiararapa the coverage is poor, less than 200m from the main road in Caterton my girlfriends phone gets barely any service, 200m! She has to place it in a certain place on her dresser to get texts, using it for calls is a joke. Same problem when I was boarding at Rathkeale, although the coverage there was worse. A few select places around the school where you could get 1 bar.

I kinda excuse the Rathkeale one a bit since we're a fair way out of town. Yet in both locations where VF/2d failed miserably I'd get 4/5 bars HSPA coverage with a good 2-5mbps. IMO, until I see otherwise, VF's network is a fail, and I'm not too sure why, there will be a proper reason. It's not just because they are VF!

1331862 2013-03-09 00:15:00 They should spend more time and money on providing better coverage.

Wasting peoples money on 4G when hardly anyone uses it.

Vodafone annoys me a lot

1331864 2013-03-09 05:37:00 Isn't LTE really long range? Seems like a good choice for rural broadband once they roll it out to all their towers.
Vodafone are pretty good in Southland, but XT still has slightly better coverage in most areas. Some places get Vodafone signal but not XT & some are the other way round. 2Degrees is so bad down here you are relieved when you leave their coverage area & switch to Vodafone towers.

I take my hat off to you then.. :-) Nice to see some oldies in this group..

LTE is all about speed. Long range only comes into it when they use the 700 Meg band. 1800 band is metro only and if they're stupid enough to use the 2600 band then it's same street coverage only..

1331867 2013-03-09 06:21:00 I'm with Vodafone on an iPhone 4s - so not 4G compatible. However.... whenever I watch a youtube clip on my phone there is rarely any delay, most downloads are down using wifi network connection anyway (so I don't chew up my data for the month!). Come to think of it, I cannot recall a time when 3G was NOT fast enough...

Oh and I've used my phone as a hotspot for watching youtube on my laptop too... in full HD with no problems.. so I don't need the extra speed thank you Vodafone! :)

1331868 2013-03-09 07:22:00 Vodafone DC-HSPA "3.5G" for me is mostly faster than ADSL2 nmercer (3899)
