(Could be a great year to enter a Kenworth). :devil | R2x1 (4628) | ||
| 1305625 | 2012-10-10 06:24:00 | As far as I'm concerned they have 2013 to sort everything out so that when I'm at Bathurst 2014 in an apartment overlooking conrod straight it's all go! | hueybot3000 (3646) | ||
| 1305626 | 2012-10-13 03:22:00 | They had clearly defined classes . Sure, but they were all on the track at the same time, hence my comment about mobile chicanes; like when a BMW came over the top at the mountain and found a couple of Minis having a passing duel . Having to contend with slower traffic on the driving line made for a lot more interesting racing . At times the other fellas could win, like the Nissan, and I seem to recall a Bimmer winning as well at some point . Bathurst with just formularised Holden & Ford V8s is just a procession occasionally interrupted by smoke, broken plastic and bent metal . I'm not anti Ford or Holden, I've owned both at various times, plus Hondas,Toyotas, Mazdas, VWs and a modified Simca that went like a cut cat, but I'd like to see some variety to spice up the racing, and it seems I pretty soon will . And yes, I've experienced all-comers racing before, I went to just about every meet at Pukekohe from the days of the fastback Anglias and racing Imps, through all the progression from there on, plus speedway and stockcars which are another set of worlds altogether, but I am a long time fan of all motor racing . As far as I have enjoyed the V8 series, Im not against change and I am looking forward to what it brings, But I doubt it will be more then a change in class rules, rather then in race format . Funny enough the combined class endurance race they held at Bathurst a few years back (outside the V8 format) died rapidly due to a lack of interest . |
