1305160 2012-10-04 20:46:00 ... and what percentage will FareFats skim off the top ??

Maybe I should put myself into a self-imposed exile now ... before I get ... :xmouth:

I say yes ... most of the regular forum users are responsible citizens and, personally, I've sent a few things to other forum members when they have asked and when I've had spares laying around collecting dust.

I'm sure that would happen a lot more frequently if there was a Buy / Swap / Sell / Give-away forum ...

1305161 2012-10-04 20:50:00 Not everyone is such as a prodigious contributor as you, Nick

I think that there shouldnt be any kind of restriction, if the person has 1 post and signed up yesterday then it's buy at your own risk. If they're legit then good for you, if they aren't we dispatch the pressf1 hit squad. Simple.

Is the banhammer not enough? :p

1305163 2012-10-04 21:09:00 Biggest problem I can see is when it could turn into a location for businesses to advertise, instead of the intention of the general members.

Trademe is a good example, it started off years ago as basically a second hand place online for the average person - now look at it, its almost been taken over by on line traders, shops etc.

Several of us here do run businesses, personally I wouldn't advertise, but others may. If anyone wants anything from me then a PM is sent to the person.

It would need to be moderated - and I dont really think the current mods want any more work. Jens comments/questions are all valid, as at the end of the day it would be up to Fairfax to say yes /no on such a forum.

1305164 2012-10-04 21:12:00 Why are memories so short on this forum ? No excuse for those who registered around 2004 or so. This topic has been raised umpteen times. For example, just use the forum search to look up TradeF1 pressf1.pcworld.co.nz Terry Porritt (14)

Simple, don't allow it. GPForums don't.

Commercial type sales and advertising are banned in the GPforums Buy Sell Trade Forum. Private sales only. This also applies to people that ‘can get something in’, you are not welcome here.

I think Nick G's Suggestions of certain post level\account age would work well, someone who fits the criteria has something to lose if their account is banned. Genuine new accounts could be dealt with perhaps by being required to show proof of actually having the item(s), and making sure everyone is aware of the higher risks.

1305168 2012-10-04 21:42:00 I got the same, you need to do the search yourself. Nick G (16709)
1305169 2012-10-04 21:50:00 There seems to be some problem with saving links to general search. Let's see if I can link to some specific threads...
pressf1.pcworld.co.nz

I wonder if this will work, seems to depend if logged on, or what is in cache.. pressf1.pcworld.co.nz

Anyway we have had polls in the past, Metla set up TradeF1 which after a short while couldn't sustain itself, we are now going round and round again the same old topic.

No the general link does not work if I log out and come back on as guest.

So just put TradeF1 in the search, it is instructive to go through the old postings.
