1331486 2013-03-06 01:28:00 wainuitech:
I did this:
Go to the Services Tab - Down the bottom, tick Hide All Microsoft Services check box.
What you should now be left with is a list of programs/Services with unticked check boxes.
but the list was all ticked (selected),
so, I unselected all & rebooted.

but no go - still black screen white arrow head

1331487 2013-03-06 01:55:00 Did you do the first step:

On the General Tab - Select Selective Startup - Untick Load Startup Items check box.

4830

The Highlighted area - it MUST be unticked. Then all the other non Microsoft services will be disabled ( or should be) other wise its still loading up the other programs. "if" it has Malware or some other type of infection it usually ( unless its nice) wont show in any of the services, so it may still be running under a normal boot.

All this is doing is testing to see if its a program on the PC causing the problem or something in the OS.

Since its starting in safe mode, that generally means its a driver or as I Posted before a permission problem. In safe mode Windows only loads in the basic of default drivers and Files needed to run.( in simple terms).

Its a case of finding what's causing the problem.

1331488 2013-03-06 02:14:00 CORRECTION TO ABOVE -- Should be Untick load System Services Checkbox ( as Highlighted),

NOT Untick Load Startup Items check box.

It wont hurt it if you do disable that one, just means it will start in real basic mode with even less running. ( like a mini Safe mode) which wont fix anything.

1331489 2013-03-06 02:45:00 Have you checked the GPU in a separate PC to ensure that the card isnt dead.....safe mode doesnt really use the card, once drivers loaded however a fault can show up! SolMiester (139)
1331490 2013-03-06 02:51:00 Good suggestion SolMiester

wainuitech: I did exactly as you suggested - still boots to black screen white arrow head; have not been able to read & follow through with the links yet - getting there

1331491 2013-03-06 03:19:00 Didn't you say it was a brand new card before ? wainuitech (129)
1331492 2013-03-06 03:25:00 Yes - brand spankin new NZHawk (4093)
1331493 2013-03-06 03:47:00 Does it have on-board Graphic as well ? If so remove the card and try them.

While not impossible to be a faulty card, generally if they start OK in safe mode its driver related.
