1305614 2012-10-07 22:23:00 A guy was driving down the road in his HOLDEN during a thunder storm, when his windshield wiper broke . He drives until he comes to an auto body shop . He goes into the shop, walks up to the counter and says, "Excuse me,but could you give me a windshield wiper for my HOLDEN?" The clerk leans against the counter and thinks for a while . Finally he says, "Sure . . . that sounds like a fair trade . "

Hope Out Love De Engines Nakerd .

(someone has to stick up for Prefect and his love of FORDs) .

1305615 2012-10-07 22:33:00 Even though I have a Falcon I don't buy into the Aussie Supercars, have been to a couple of Supercar races here and would not mind going to Bathurst just for the experience

The only difference between the two is the name badge and engines which have been mirrored for no advantage from either ,even if one car has any weight advantage weight is added everything else is control(eg: suspension, gearbox and other ancillary bits)

The introduction of other nameplates(Nissan,Mercedes) and will be others is to soften the phasing out of both Commodore 2018 and Falcon 2015

Will be interesting to see if they get the same following with Holden and Ford missing(can't see beer swilling Mercedes owners on the Top of the Mountain)

1305616 2012-10-07 23:37:00 That is no different to F1 cars whether it is a Ferrari, Mclaren or Williams and whether they are using Merc, Renault or Ferrari engines the car and engines have to all be to the same specifications.

1305617 2012-10-07 23:41:00 why dont they just use the DTM car (mercedes)???? GameJunkie (72)
1305618 2012-10-07 23:43:00 Same (I believe) with MotoGP Bikes - Yamaha, Ducati, Honda... But they (like the Supercars) can change certain specs to fit the riders style. Tyre choice etc. lordnoddy (3645)

Who said Holden and Ford would be missing? As I understand it, they will have a four-marque race, and if they are brave enough to get rid of the 'control this' and 'control that' and just say 'it has to fit inside this broad envelope' which would allow one team to choose an engine advantage while another might go for handling, or aerodynamics. Then the competition would be to both build a winning package inside the allowable envelope, and then drive it to victory on the day.

That would be an event worth watching from start to finish, just like it used to be, with 4's, 6's and 8's in the same race.

Cheers

1305621 2012-10-08 08:02:00 If its got any pathetic 4 or 6 cylinder engined cars racing there I wont watch it and I dare to say a lot of Aussies wont.
It will go the same way as the Hawksbury m/c and Renwick town race.

Cheers Billy 8-{) Have you ever seen or experienced racing outside of bathurst? Control this, control that?...its called a class, all racing above backyard bashing follows this format, In the past they ran 4 classes at Bathurst, now they run one. It didn't lead to great racing, it lead to crashes, and with modern cars doing over 300km/h mixing classes like the old days would lead to people being killed. The single class format has given us a higher level of epic racing, year in, year out, right across the series and without fail every year at Bathurst, If you haven't witnessed this then you either weren't watching or were just in it for the crashes. 1305623 2012-10-08 08:44:00 The best years of Bathurst were those when virtually all-comers could race, and in the vehicle of their choice.

Cheers

Billy 8-{) (Repressed Petrolhead)

They had clearly defined classes.
