The best years of Bathurst were those when virtually all-comers could race, and in the vehicle of their choice . There were mobile chicanes around every corner, and at irregular intervals down Conrod; sod-all safety barriers (Johnson VS tree was something to behold, as was the overnight work by the TAFE apprentices to rebuild a virtual write-off overnight), the racing was always interesting, not just a procession of mobile billboards, and you didn't need $quillions to compete .

The new formula will still require $quillions, but Mercedes and Nissan will give the 'ar$ho1es' in the cheap seats something to think about . It will definitely be a more interesting and more colourful race .

My main worry is that Conrod might be renamed 'Latte Straight' .

Cheers

You got it Billy . I am so looking forward to the opening up of the classes next year . Might make it worth watching right through rather than what I tend to do now . . . watch the start for an hour, then come back for the last hour .

1305613 2012-10-07 22:11:00 I dont mind them opening it up to cars from our former enemies but the Mercedes and Nissans should have V8s to same spec as Ford and GM same ZF gearbox, same diff, same body weight, same wheel size, same size disc brakes, same engine fuel system, no turbo.
And pay some reparations for WW2.
