127088 2003-03-10 06:31:00 Im just dying to get cable (Who isnt ;-)) but Im gonna be paying any extra charges.

We're currently on $24.95 a month for 250 hours, only I want CABLE!!!!!

So they said (When I get a full time job) "We can get it if you pay the extra charges over the 24.95 per month).

But Im pretty sure that with the major amount of surfing we do, that we'd get pretty darn close.

So, How close am I likely to get to, the 10 gig international limit, with us going online nightly running ICS on 3 PC's, downloading around 10 megs a night at least!!!

Would using the Ihug proxy work by saving on international traffic?
Im just not wanting to go over the limit in a hurry :(

How much do most people use?

Thanks guys - Im a real n00b for this subject :(

Cheers

127089 2003-03-10 06:36:00 I have JetStart with Xtra and use about 3GB per month. The good thing is that there is no limit for New Zealand sites, so I have saved gigabytes from downloading Linux CDs from New Zealand mirrors. ;-) flyer590 (2523)
127090 2003-03-10 06:44:00 I run about 1 GB per month, only about 20% of that is international.
Jetstream Starter 128kb.

I don't download P2P junk, or music. Thats just standard usage for a business that does most of its work via the web.

127091 2003-03-10 06:52:00 Chill,
With me, it depends on how much i use file sharing programs. I come very close to using my 10 gig cable-paradise allocation by running kazaalite about 2 weeks a month.

Without that, i am unlikely to pull a single Gig of traffic.

flyer590,
Where are these Linux mirror sites? Is there one for SuSE8 updates?

127092 2003-03-10 07:09:00 We are with quicksilver (ADSL) and we don’t have a International & National limit ! :D :)

And we have 10 GB of bandwidth! And we don’t even get near ics to the limit!

127093 2003-03-10 07:12:00 well you could blow that quite easily. Or you could not.

So what is that you're looking at getting. The ADSL or the cable? and what plans?

I know I could do 10 gig easily. But then I have been known to do in excess of 4GB on dialup.

127094 2003-03-10 07:16:00 This page (www.linux.net.nz) has most of the New Zealand Linux mirrors. However, I do not know of any New Zealand SuSE mirrors. flyer590 (2523)

What you mean you have no limit and "10 GB of bandwidth"???

Has someone diverted the southern cross cable to your house or something?

127097 2003-03-10 08:45:00 I am on paradise and use up to 10 gigs per month .
I was with Chello when it started ages ago but that disappeared quickly as bandwidth hogging by a few, soon killed the unlimited D/load concept.; nice while it lasted.
P2p stuff movies mp3s etc chew up large chunks of data my hard drives on 2 PCs total 240 gig and i still need more space . i remember when 2 gigs was considered big thank god for cdr s
