127204 2003-03-10 22:19:00 Friend needs camera to take pics of parts of Tiger Moth, when he sends away for parts,he wants to send pic with it,so as not to get another part arriving instead, this happens.
Needs to be cheap and have reasonable macro.
Thank you all.

127205 2003-03-11 07:41:00 Kodak dx3215 at Dick Smith. They have a promotion/clearance on them. $299.00
This a good price as they have 2x optical zoom (good), 2x digital (waste of time) and macro function( quite acceptable). Only 1.2 megapixel but far better quality than any of the many 1.2 megapixel $200 cheapies made from waterpistol plastic flooding the market at the moment. Good on batteries, good flash, lcd, excellent clarity of images, tv out and takes memory cards (secure digital)
Good review here

www.steves-digicams.com

Only downsides slow to refresh after taking shot (3/4 seconds) ,it doesnt look as upmarket as newer models and the accompanying software is good but bloated, all you really need is the driver and use it as you would a hardrive -- drag and drop your pics into something more friendly like irfanview for enhancing/printing.

And no, I dont work for Kodak.

127206 2003-03-11 07:46:00 Thanks Highlander,need the macro for obvious reasons,sounds just the ticket.Most cheapos don't have macro. Thomas (1820)
127207 2003-03-11 08:01:00 Hi Thomas.
The Highlander has given good advice . A point to remember is that a good zoom shot is nearly as good as a macro and from a distance also.

127208 2003-03-11 08:10:00 Thank you also Callum, will remember that tip, will be used for pics of parts as mentioned, the buggers will send wrong parts and all the way from England, this should sort out prob.
Have you managed to stop that bulb from swinging,I take it you are THE Callum?
Thomas (1820)
127209 2003-03-13 04:58:00 Don't know about THE part . I have a lot of computor problems but a swinging bulb is not one of them .
