| 126917 | 2003-03-09 18:21:00 | I have a Pentium4 2.0gb cpu, 512 mb memory, 160gb in 4 hard drives, and WindowsXP Sp1. But whenever I start using Word 2002 Sp2 it, and any other program running at the time, gradually slows down until it becomes minutes, rather than a fraction of a second, before the cursor responds to each key stroke. Re-booting is then the only option. I have tried re-installation and repair of Word without result. It would appear that reading/writing to the program disk slows to a stop but all systems and disks are Go according to various diagnostic tests. It only happens when I use Word! Any ideas? Roger |

And a real long-shot, find and delete your "normal.dot" file. It will be a system file probably, under your personal file area in XP. If you have ever used Word it WILL be there, and if corrupted no amount of reinstalling or uninstalling will fix it. If you delete it Word will create a new one next time it runs. |
