127256 2003-03-11 02:42:00 Im basically wanting some software that'll automatically tell me the most recent IP address of the PC when its connected to the net.. I'll obviously be needing somewhere that I can check to see what it is.

This is because Im going to be using rAdmin as opposed to Remote Assistance, coz Im sometimes on non-XP PC's, and rAdmin connects a whole lot easier on Dial-Up!

So, in a nutshell,
I want to be able to check from online the IP a set PC (The one at home) so I can connect to it via Remote Administrator.

Is it possible??

Cheers

127257 2003-03-11 03:28:00 Would http://www.dyndns.org/ work? bmason (508)
127258 2003-03-11 03:45:00 yeah you'll have to use something like dyndns or no-ip. Unless you bought a fixed IP from the ISP.

THe other alternative is that if the computer uses ICQ you can then tell the IP that way.

127260 2003-03-11 04:46:00 Okay.. I signed up with them.. But what do I do now? The site's FAQ isnt much help?! Chilling_Silence (9)
127261 2003-03-11 07:16:00 Have a look under "Support -> Dynamic DNS -> Howto" if you haven't found it.

Basically you need to login at the website and create a new dyndns host name. I went with "still.kicks-ass.org".

Then you grab a client for your OS. I used DeeEnEs (palacio-cristal.com) on windows because its small and just worked.

127262 2003-03-11 07:20:00 Ah, Yes, Thanks.

I just came here to post and say that I've managed to get it setup using that proggy (I had a look back on what NZ_Liam use), and Im about to disconnect and hope it auto-updates when I reconnect :-)

Thanks :D
