127828 2003-03-13 23:23:00 I have three contacts in Christchurch who all use the ni500 and they are all happy with it. They are all gamers if that makes any difference and one has a additional computer also networked for gaming via the ni500. Gordon. (2217)
127829 2003-03-14 00:05:00 They are great floyds, I have one and love it, but where are you buying yours? They went off the local market several months ago. Be aware that Nokia exited NZ at the same time so support is virtually non-existent. If it is old stock somewhere the price should be low. DSE specialled their remaining stock at $100 incl gst.

However, they are so simple to install using the supplied CD that i can't see what support you would need. And there is always F1. :D

127830 2003-03-14 00:45:00 I have had one for about a 1 1/2 years. I did have intermittent problem with it disconnecting then reconnecting for no reason at all. I had it replaced (about 1 week downtime) and no problem ever since. I did read that the earlier model ( i think they were blue) did have problem with them shutting down when they got hot.
The installation CD that came will not run on XP (maybe newer ones do) so unless you know about setting up IP addresses you will need support and unfortunately that is via 0900 number, or you can post here if you have problems and I can let you know how mine is set up.
One thing I haven't been able to do is configure it to connect to jetstreamgames! I have posted here before and others have posted on behalf on some gaming sites and the response back is not easily done so I have not worried about that.

If I had a choice now... I would choose another model, m1122 or different brand as Billy T said they pulled the plug here in NZ and I would prefer being with a company that didn't farm out support to 3rd party company. They pulled out of NZ about 3 months after I bought unit.

127831 2003-03-14 04:26:00 Hi There FLOYDS.

I have been using one of thes for about 16 months and have had no (touch wood) problems with it. There has been the ocassional line drop but I'm sure that it is the telco line not the router.
I'd say "go for it" if the price is right

127832 2003-03-14 06:37:00 I would recommend the m1122 ! I've set them up, sold them and think they are awesome ( if expensive ) and they have great network-ability and they don't need setting up in xp ( although you do need to know how to set up a ip address etc ) but the ni500 is great and have a look at

www.nzdsl.co.nz

good site!
