127795 2003-03-13 20:09:00 sometime it's there, sometimes it isn't! the top choices are there (file, edit, etc) so I can still send and recieve or reply or whatever, but the icons under are sometimes gone.
I can close and open again and they come back (so they're always there when it starts)

I've forgotten where the repair IE bit is (which I thought might help) so if someone can refresh my memory there, that would be good. or if anyone has any other ideas... I'm ready to try them!

Thanks Trev

127796 2003-03-13 20:09:00 Oh yes, Operating XP home Trev0 (1995)
127797 2003-03-13 20:31:00 Is it not in control panel, delete O/E then gives option to repair? Thomas (1820)
127798 2003-03-13 20:52:00 Hi
When you start up OE and the toolbar is present, have you tried View/Toolbars/Lock the Toolbars.

127799 2003-03-13 21:58:00 OE isn't in the add/remove progs bit, Thomas (that's where I thought the 'repair' was before)
and Scouse, under view I don't have toolbars.... right clicking the toolbar also doesn't bring up any way to lock the toolbar. (it's unlocked)

127800 2003-03-14 01:44:00 We are talking about Outlook Express here, not Internet Explorer so there would be no "repair OE" tool. Nor a "repair IE" tool in Win XP because IE is integrated into the OS. I guess we will get one the next time IE is updated.

When does the toolbar disappear? What do you have to do to make it disappear?

My OE toolbar is not lockable either - I do not think it is an option in OE like in IE. But I am surprised that you do not have an option, "Toolbar" to "tick" when you right click on it. If you have, then all you need to is select it.

127801 2003-03-14 02:02:00 We are talking about Outlook Express and I do have the toolbar selected (after right clicking the toolbar)

I'm not sure what makes it disappear but if I'm on-line for a while browsing with OE on, after an indeterminate time, if I go and check to see what's going on (if anything) in OE the tool-bar is sometimes gone!

I suppose I'll have to log it a bit better to get more stats, but I thought there might be an easy repair option...

I've kept up to date with AVG and Norton and have just tried a trojan remover... Ad aware also.

Maybe I should install it again over itself?

127802 2003-03-14 02:07:00 Reinstalling OE would not be a bad idea. Something has obviously upset it - maybe the trojan remover??

It might pay to backup your emails before reinstalling -- just in case. You never know....

127803 2003-03-14 08:50:00 sorry Sue had to go...
I'll log it a bit more, before rocking the boat too much.

I tried the Trojan remover after noticing it, to fix it..so that's not it.
Yes, good idea, I'll back up important stuff before I do anything else..

Thanks Trev
