127635 2003-03-13 00:14:00 I do not know how, but I am totally missing WordPad. This is having an effect on other things, such as unable to view a dll contents, unable to print a webpage or email directly to printer and goodness knows what else. Have searched my drive and installation disk and cannot figure out how to get it back. It is not listed in Windows components. It is not on Win Office 2000 disk and cannot see anything to help me in MS Support. Totally, totally missing.
Anyone know how to get it back?
I am running WinMe with Office 2000 Premium. I believe my recent install of WinMe updates may have something to do with it. The timing is too coincidental.
Anyone know? Thanks Andrew.

127636 2003-03-13 00:19:00 As a handy alternative. go to www.editpadlite.com and bring in the prog ( freebee). Install it in your Windows directory and rename it Notepad.exe TonyF (246)
127637 2003-03-13 00:20:00 Or wordpad.exe TonyF (246)
127638 2003-03-13 00:24:00 It might pay to do a search for wordpad.exe on your computer first. Oxie (1318)
127639 2003-03-13 02:36:00 Hi Andrew

Wordpad.exe should be in C:\program files\accessories. If you have just lost the shortcut, right click the exe and choose create shortcut.

If you can't find it there, try putting in your ME CD and doing the add programs trick in control panel (windows setup/add components/accessories) wordpad is at the bottom of the list.

However, IMHO you should not be using Wordpad to view the contents of files as you may inadvertently corrupt them by saving with formatting. Better to stick to notepad for that type of work, or for altering bat, ini, com, exe or any other executable files. A plain text editor is much less likely to stuff up your files.

127640 2003-03-13 03:56:00 What happens when u go start > run > worpad ? promethius (1998)
127641 2003-03-13 03:56:00 oops *wordpad promethius (1998)
127642 2003-03-13 04:31:00 I thought the executable for Wordpad was write.exe antmannz (28)
127643 2003-03-13 05:28:00 Nope :| It is Wordpad.exe. Right-click & check properties.

That is, unless MS alternate the exe file they use. However, I always thought Write.exe was the version for Win 3.11.

Cheers
