| 127582 | 2003-03-12 09:51:00 | Hi Everyone, I am posting a topic on the forum in search of finding a IT job in Auckland. I will give you a bit of information about myself: I am a 21 year old male and have completed a Diploma in Business Computing at AUT. I have been working for NZ's argest IT distribution company where I have been doing IT Sales etc. I am a very enthusiastic guy who enjoys the IT industry and is always prepared to further my education to keep up with the technology being released. I am looking for a job where I would be responsible for carrying out general IT roles, eg upgrades, software installs, networking (specialised in this field at AUT) & general problem shooting situations etc. If anyone knows of a vacancy I would really appreciate hearing about it. | 127584 | 2003-03-13 01:41:00 | My best advice is grab that phone book and call people up, offering to email them your CV! Im still looking for a job, but hopefully have another interview soon. Otherwise, contacts.. get to know people in the industry... just start chatting to them if at all possible at socials etc. seek.co.nz are good, so are nzjobs :-) Have a search through previous posts here, as there's been 4 odd threads on this subject before, and how to find work. | 127585 | 2003-03-13 02:58:00 | Scour the Employment sections of your local newspaper. I know a friend who after completing tertiary studies, returned to his former high-school to become a computer technician. It might be worth asking around places you know, or people/companies who know you. |

Redundant/Fired/etc apparantly... Soo hard seperating rumours from the truth at secondary schools, however he no longer works there... Where was the school your friend was working at? Auckland? |

| 127587 | 2003-03-13 04:58:00 | Suprisingly enough, try searching for a job on google. type a search query like "IT sales" vacancy site:.nz and you will get a list of many jobs that regular job search engines don't have because they are listed on the companies own site. I finished a course in electronics last year, spent 2 months scouring the newspaper and 6 different company/job search sites before i tried google. It came up with a job at Massey University, where I applied and got the job... I start on Monday!!! Try it yourself, see how it goes... The only thing to watch is it will sometimes come up with sites/pages that are old, but it can't hurt and maybe you'll get lucky... Craig. |
