2. d. 35-45 wpm.
3. a At school.
4. e. 50-59
5. Female

We had a very elderly lady reliving typing teacher, she had also taught my Dad typing. She said that when we learnt to touch type that we would be able to sit down at any typewriter (little did she know about computers of the future) and just type. I found typing so hard then, esp the numbers across the top. Now pretty good at finding them 38 years later, is it practice?

127916 2003-03-17 10:02:00 Many thanks to everyone who did this survey, I didn't think I would get that many replies . :-)

Even so, there are quite a few names missing that I would like to have participated, though I guess they are probably just too shy . Or maybe they think it is a waste of time . :-(

Anyway, the results have fascinated me - there are far more touch-typists, semi-touch typists and self-taught typists than I expected . The biggest surprise is the number of senior members who are self-taught touch-typists . I also expected virtually all the under-20's to have been taught at school but I am way off base there . Obviously has not slowed them down at all -- they are speed demons on ICQ and in the chat room . :D

> I got 49 words per minute too, maybe it's a crock .

I think it is robo, I got wildly differing results over five sessions . Best was 79 wpm and worst was 62 wmp . Number of errors did not seem to affect the result either, and it should .

Kame: Funny how XtraMSN would not let me view that page while using Opera identified as Opera but did when I changed Opera's identification to Internet Explorer . Got the message:

xtraMSN Member Directory is not currently compatible with your Internet browser . Here's what you need to enjoy xtraMSN Member Directory:
Internet Explorer 4 . 0 - or - Netscape Navigator 4 . x or higher

Meh! Typical Microsoft .

> blah blah blah who cares?

Me . Any objections? :-)

Thanks again people, you're the best . :-)
