128182 2003-03-14 21:56:00 I got a 1600 amd athlon xp processor and its clock speed is 1399mhz can i safely get it to run at 1600mhz? and can you guys tell me how? unless my geforce 2 64mb card is the bottle neck.

128183 2003-03-14 22:11:00 benchmark your pc first. what fps are you getting? in what?

work on tweaking your pc before overclocking your pc.

128184 2003-03-14 22:20:00 benchmark? im tryin to get much fps as possible. its for americas army, im not happy with my average frame rate of 24fps :( TiM©:*) (977)
128185 2003-03-14 22:25:00 benchmark.....so you know eactly what you pc is doing before and after you do any changes. also so you can compare against other peoples systems.

odds are the video card is your bottleneck anyway so overclocking the cpu will be pointless.

128186 2003-03-14 22:41:00 FPS refer to 'frames per second' don't they? In which case it'll be more video card dependent than processor?

Because your card is only a geforce 2, I'd say turning off features such as 'anti-aliasing,' would improve the FPS count.

You will need 3DMark2001 to check on your FPS count. Get it from MadOnion (http://www.madonion.com)

128187 2003-03-14 22:41:00 american army :-) a good free game
try running at 16bit color an what is your resolution when you play? with your computer i'd play it at 800x600 not 1024x768.
I've only played that game twice and it was on a true gamers comp but it should have a few options like texture detail and draw distance, by turning these down you'll get more frames for a little less deatil

128188 2003-03-14 23:20:00 Dont know the game, but with DOD, I have turned off the vert sync for GL in Nvidia properties. Now get 90+ fps. Pheonix (280)
128189 2003-03-15 00:19:00 I dont like turning off features but i dont mind putting down resolution, and i put the resolution at its lowest, TiM©:*) (977)
128190 2003-03-15 00:23:00 600x400 is bad (if americas army has that option)
set the color to 16bit you'll hardly know the change

128191 2003-03-15 00:29:00 Get a new graphics card Geforce 3 upwards would be fine if you want more FPS your cpu should be able to be overclocked by about 15 % or so safely any more could result in damage or lockups easier to buy another one if speed is of major importance kiwibeat (304)
