| 128138 | 2003-03-14 21:40:00 | I think this is what happend, I tryed to plug in my cus usb digi cam so i pulled out my comp from my desk and when i pushed it back it squashed my modem wire then i play cs and the my lag went up!!! it keeps bouncing 300 400 700 and then normall, i cant even play properly any more, then i check if my modemwire was lose and found that my comp was squashing the modem wire, did that damage my modem wire and cause this lag? I've tryed reinstalling cs serveral times and even system restore, i turned off automatic update just incase my comp was dling a win update and scanned my comp with adaware 6 and i still have lag. can some one help ? | 128140 | 2003-03-14 21:51:00 | I really doubt that the wire will be damaged from that sort of pressure you describe. But of course you could test it by borrowing someone else's modem cable. I play a lot of ArmyOps too - what's your username? |

| 128142 | 2003-03-14 22:46:00 | 7 honour!!?? Hey mate, you better work on it! Aus servers are usually quite good, with pings around 150, depending on the time of day. I tried running a server myself, but I have only one machine so the game performed really badly. Also it chewed thru too much bandwidth on my adsl account. My username is hotdog77, honour 18 and climbing :D |

| 128143 | 2003-03-14 22:59:00 | hahahaha, I was playin cs and neglected Army ops. any way cs lags alot so im on Army ops now and when i came back to Army ops my honor was 8 or 9 then it went to 7 then 6 then 7 then 8 then 7 then 6 and now its 7. before I naded alot and sometimes got my team mate with all the lag and all and I didnt really know how to play, I just tried to rush in and kill people but now that i know, I try to get the objectives and kill whom ever is in my way and I can tell enermie from goodies. I was in honor and my team had back packs, then i change to loyalty and then i started to shoot the people with back packs!!! didnt realize that no matter what team im in, my team always have the back packs hehahah. that explains my honor. There are aussie official servers? give me a link !!!!!!! and i only can play in the mout mckenna map untill my honor reaches ten My honor is climbmin too every one plz help with cs i still want to play some times. especially with ther 1.6 patch comming out with two new guns, sheild and nades!! |

Would it be possible to play AA (i never tried/played it) or CS on net over 56k? And would it be "ok" to play it - like it won't p*ss other people off with me having a slow connection? cheers |

I've heard of many people using 56k dial up for AA, but they do suffer - your pings will be very high, particularly on the US servers. this means that your reactions are going to be a lot slower than the opposition. Your speed however won't affect other players, so it won't drag down the game as a whole. I use adsl so I don't have too much of a problem, although even so I don't get as good times a players from the US. I dunno about Tim, but I think he's on dial-up, and seems to mange fine most of the time. I dunno about CS, cause I've only played it once, but my guess is if anything, it would be better than AA, because there are many NZ servers which you can play through. AA doesn't have any official NZ servers, but remember anyone can set up their own server in NZ so long as they have a superfast connection and top end machine. |
