| 128249 | 2003-03-15 01:06:00 | Hi everyone, AdAware 6 is not finding any spyware anymore. It worked really well for the first weeks or so, it won't even pick-up "double click" anymore. I've tried deep scan, quick scan, scan C:\ but always blank, nothing. I've have Refupdate2.0 which I keep up-dated. Ad-Aware used to work great up till last week or so and I'm sure there has to be spyware somewhere (not that I want it!). Anyone have any Ideas ?:| ?:| ?:| |

| 128251 | 2003-03-15 03:40:00 | are you sure you have any spyware?? you might not be picking up "doubleclick" if you now have an add blocker in place (they are only cookies anyway) or havn't been to a site with their ads(rare). refupdate dosn't actually do anything as the updater is built in to adaware6. what you could have done is use refupdate to "update" the ref file in adaware6 with the old 5 series ref file which may explain why its not working. rename the ref file and use the built in updater to update with. i wouldn't call spybot more "powerfull". its designed to be more picky which is perfect for the paranoid. notice that it picks up a lot of MRUD's. |

To see whether the program can still detect spyware, try restoring a quarantined file and then rescan with Adaware to see if it finds them again. If it can't, the reference file might be corrupt. Try using the webupdate feature within the program to get new reference files rather than using the Refupdate 2.0. Lastly, you could see whether uninstalling and reinstalling the program makes a difference. Jen |
