128016 2003-03-14 08:46:00 I want to upgrade my graphics card, fit TV tuner, and fit rw/ cd from my old PC. Will xp prof allow these number of changes? What should I watch out for when upgrading?

thanks

128017 2003-03-14 10:25:00 I think you should be alright with those changes.
Before changing the graphics card remove the old driver and use the basic one then install

128018 2003-03-14 10:29:00 Just a little aside. Australian PC magazine suggested that it would be a good idea to alter the OS settings to mobile rather than desktop. By doing this adjustment it permits you to do more than five alterations to your PC.

From memory I think it increased it to about ten alterations before the OS spits the dummy.

128020 2003-03-14 11:41:00 If your copy of XP is legal, and properly activated, however many changes you make is unimportant - all you need to do is contact Microsoft in Auckland and they'll give you another activation code to reactivate XP and you're away flying again.

128021 2003-03-15 00:39:00 That may be so but it is still a hassel a legal owner of the software should not have to go through and reading on a site the other nite it hasn't done anything to stop the main culprits of pirating.
MS and the Hollywood guys are now trying to link terrorism to the major pirating guys.

128022 2003-03-15 00:52:00 FYI When they talk of changes, it applies to an upgrade after which windows is restarted. For example, if you change out vid card and motherboard and RAM, then next time you start XP , it is considered 1 change. Two or more components are considered a major changes. Pheonix (280)
128023 2003-03-15 01:15:00 I am back on 98 SE and I must say its a lot slimmer and faster than XP except for multi tasking where its not as good a 300 meg instalation as opposed to a 1.5 gig for XP boots up in 15 seconds on my 1.3 thunderbird kiwibeat (304)
