2003-03-16 10:15:00 | Just was playing around with my O/S since it is imaged no longer afraid to literally destroy it since i can replace the image in about 10 mins as opposed to a 6 hour when doing a manual reinstallation . Any ways was having a few minor issues with 98 and decided to upgrade to 2000 went thru about 80 % of the installation then hit a error cannoy proceed ; booted out and was back in 98 but things are definitedly faster and appear more stable will have to test some more but my resources are definitely being returned after usage unlike before am very happy at the moment and have to image this setup before I do some more tweaking and upset it

2003-03-16 10:55:00 | I use PowerQuest Drive Image 2002 to image takes about 10 mins for 1.6 gig of data same to restore it , seem s to work well and very easy to use since doing this about 1 week ago I can feel free to do what i like with my o/s without fear of having to do a reformat and reinstallation etc . More than welcome to contact me if you want more advice or help in these matters used to use GoBack but no longer need it my HDD now are very quiet no longer frantically trying to backup all the changes etc I do to my C: drive

2003-03-16 11:09:00 | Thankx And so where do you backup the 1.6Gb. I assume its on another partition/hard drive. Is it possible to backup to CDR. I know CD 's only hold few hundread Megs, but is it possible to split into a set of CD's??? I dont have spare HD or partition as i have 2 HD and one has Linux and on the 2nd hard drive it has 2 partitions with Win2k and WinPX on it. Cheers

2003-03-17 01:08:00 | Ghost 2003 will burn direct to CD. I have tried twice so far but have only made coasters. It crashed on me. I'm going to have another go tonight. | wotz (335) | |
2003-03-17 01:15:00 | Partition > Partition is certainly easiest. You can actually use Ghost to partition your drive if you restore and image and tell it to restore to a partition, then just resize the partition size when it gives you the chance... very cool option! Does it make the Cd bootable when ghosting to a CD-R/W or does it just save the image to the CD-R? Ive never tried that option, sorry... only Partition to Partition and across a LAN :-)

2003-03-17 02:50:00 | You can make it bootable if you run ghost from windows. My previous experience is also ghosting to partitions or across network, but have 1 machine not networked with no HDD space left for a big enough partition. | wotz (335) | |
