128618 2003-03-16 08:36:00 Can anyone tell me what may be the best outa two moniters as I am considering buying one of them.
first is the Phillips 19inch 109s with a 0.27 dot pitch or an Aopen 19 inch with 0.26 dot pitch (not sure of the model of the Aopen and both monitors are not flat screen).
I am aware of the usual good quality of Phillips and have no idea of the Aopen quality but it does have a slightly better dot pitch. Will the 0.26 dot pitch be even noticeable against the 0.27?

Thanks

128619 2003-03-16 09:25:00 Hi,
Yes, Phillips make good monitors, very good. But at a price. That 19" your looking at is .27 dot pitch which isn't that great considering normal dot pitch is .25 now (smaller is better for once ;)) There is quite a difference between .27 and .25 but have doubts weather you would notice between .27 and .26.I have never ever heard of Aopen making monitors, strange.

Maybe its AOC or something, they make quite good montiors and very cheap. I've got a 19" flat monitor AOC .25 which is great, no problems yet and at 100hz its very very clear. 3yr warrenty too. they are about $400, check pricespy.co.nz but it depends on your budget and what you are loooking for

128620 2003-03-16 09:51:00 I hadnt heard of Aopen monitors, but this is their web site:

www.aopen.com

If you click on where to buy and select New Zealand there are quite a number of suppliers listed. The specs sound ok, and Aopen is a pretty good manufacturer of other things, so I expect their monitors may be ok too.
I would at least ask to see one running before buying though, preferably side by side with a Philips, if that is possible.

128622 2003-03-16 23:48:00 I've got a Philips 109P, the flat screen model, and I think it's great, although the PCW test last year didn't like it much. They said the text was a bit grainy but it seems okay to me. Paid $770 for it at PB Tech just b4 xmas, so they're probably cheaper now. Flat is definitely the way to go if you can afford it.

I'm looking at buying maybe AOC 9Klr or Auriga 19NF (19 inch True Flat Screen)

Which model AOC do you have and for it do you know what the maximum resolution would be at around 85Hz refresh rate, please.
