128930 2003-03-17 23:48:00 I wish to create several databases for distribution. I am experienced in DBase III+, DBase IV and Visual Dbase 5. I know that at one time it was possible to purchase self executable versions of these, I have searched on the internet but haven't been able to find them. Are they still available and if so where would I purchase a copy.

Alternatively I would consider Delphi. I've looked at the version distributed by PC World but when accessing help am told that that version does not support databases. Fair enough for a trial copy. What version should I look at purchasing for my purpose and where sahould I go to obtain it,

Many thanks Drinkwater.

128931 2003-03-18 00:28:00 The Professional version includes the bde to allow access to various types of databases. Some PC Plus mags have had the Pro version of Delphi and C++ Builder. Dolby Digital (160)
128932 2003-03-18 10:25:00 MSDE, is installed with a lot of Microsoft apps, I lot of software we install uses it if you don't have a copy of SQL server or any other existing DB server. ecko_nzed (652)
128933 2003-03-18 11:03:00 The Professional version of Delphi 7 can use several ways to connect to a database. I recently got given that version and would recommend it the trouble is that to buy it it is $2000 odd and the upgrade is $897 go to www.borland.co.nz/ (http:) The site appears to be down at the moment so try later. mikebartnz (21)
