128921 2003-03-17 22:19:00 Whenever there is an incoming phone call when I am connected to Xtra, the phone (on the callers end) rings...a lot of times, the Xtra connection is then disconnected and so is the phone call.....no one wins!

...is there a way I can make it only cut off the phone call?...or the internet connection?

Thanks...oh...this is on a 56k mdm

128922 2003-03-17 22:44:00 You must have call waiting enabled on your phone line? (a chargeable facility from Telecom)
Otherwise the caller would get a busy signal.
The "beeps" Call Waiting puts on the line would cause your modem to disconnect, thereby effectively "hanging up" on the caller.

You could put the "disable call waiting" codes into your dialler setup, and then they would get a busy signal and you would not be disconnected.

128923 2003-03-17 22:48:00 You must have call waiting on your phone line.
If someone calls you number while you are connected to the internet they will hear a ringing tone and your modem will usually disconnect and your phone may ring if they wait a bit longer.

You can disable call waiting by putting *52 in front of the Xtra dialup number.
Now when someone calls you number while connected to the internet they will get an engaged tone.

It is either one or the other, you can use the internet or the phone but not both together.
