| 128816 | 2003-03-17 09:46:00 | I have the option of either the Aopen 16x 1648-lky or the Samsung SD616 16x DVDRom. Which one would be best and what should I be looking for in a DVD rom drive. I want to be able to play them onto my TV with the video out option on my GeForce 4 TI4200 and maybe make backup copies of my dvd movies. Also I would want a region free model. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks |

| 128822 | 2003-03-17 23:37:00 | I have never seen a new DVD-ROM drive come from a supplier region free (been using DVD-ROM drives since they first appeared!) They usually give you about 4-5 changes of the region then get locked into whatever region you choose on the last go. Also most DVD software and hardware decoders are the same. Have to use a program like DVDGenie or DVDRegion Free. Check out this page (forum.rpc1.org) for more info. |
