2003-03-19 12:15:00 | >Mind you, if the US govt is going to lead the country into war with 75% of the populus saying "no" is that democratic?< Clueless, I would like to know where you got that 75% figure from. It may go some way to explaining your views on this. A poll taken only yesterday in the USA indicates a 67% approval for takeing military action against Iraq. Where are you getting your information from?

2003-03-19 12:18:00 | its now 82% for the war... i think each poll is taken in different states......coz the for is growing..so they get differnet ppl..and they just add them on or something... this is the same pattern as the 91 gulf war... support FOR the war increases just b4 attacks or just after attack starts... i think we are definately going to see a war at 1:15pm 2morrow NZT...

2003-03-19 12:22:00 | It would appear that the results of these polls vary greatly depending on timing and wording. Quite frankly i haven't been paying enough attention to those details to answer your question Danger. However i would be interested in exactly what question was being asked, and as to how large and random the sample group is/was in the resent poll. | Clueless (181) | |
2003-03-19 13:02:00 | All those polls are, is a media-hype. No poll ever taken, has been accurate. And now after all the propaganda the US media has circulated, the polls are leaning the other way. Go figure. I recall a week or so ago, that US planes had been crossing International Borders. These borders had certain military capabilities.... They don't anymore. So "The Butcher of Bhagdad" is in power. He's about to gain Martyrdom. He has only a small collection of cap-guns compared to the grand 'ol US of A. I haven't seen any reports regarding the American capabilities - they are after all the biggest muscle in the World. I can't quote figures, but Australia was against War. are they a democratic republic?.... Saddam Hussein will never bend to America's will. He will, however make America go to any length they deem necessary to get their oil. For example, here is Bush's plea - And all Iraqi military and civilian personnel should listen carefully to this warning: In any conflict, your fate will depend on your actions. Do not destroy oil wells, a source of wealth that belongs to the Iraqi people. Do not obey any command to use weapons of mass destruction against anyone, including the Iraqi people. War crimes will be prosecuted, war criminals will be punished and it will be no defense to say, "I was just following orders." Should Saddam Hussein choose confrontation, the American people can know that every measure has been taken to avoid war and every measure will be taken to win it. - FOR GODS SAKE, DON'T HURT THE OIL radz :( May we all just.... get along

2003-03-19 13:06:00 | Well, I can't find the poll that quoted "64% approval for war against Iraq", thats how it was worded tho. But another only just posted now claims 3 out of 4 (75%) Americans support a US led war against Iraq. See it here. www.news.com.au So how on earth did you get the idea that 75% were against a war with Iraq? So I guess Bush is acting democratically after all? You need to back up your statements to be taken seriously in such discussions Clueless.

2003-03-19 18:48:00 | Danger. As said before, i wasn't take enough notice to be able to quote sources now. Surely you could understand this given that you can not quote the sourse of a "stat" you found only one day ago!? .Clueless

2003-03-19 20:25:00 | Yes, but I have supplied a source of information which indicates even more people in favour of action. And there are many other sources indicating similar. As said above, polls are not accurate, but a difference of 75% against to 75% for is one hell of an inacuracy. Just interested where you might be getting such information with way out of kilter figures like 75% of Americans against the war, and the fact that medicines are sanctioned, and that Iraq is a democracy? Is it the same source that has influenced your views on the subject? | Danger (287) | |
2003-03-19 20:36:00 | And I have had another look, and found my source for you Clueless. news4colorado.com This poll was conducted among a nationwide random sample of 1,049 adults, interviewed by telephone March 15-16, 2003. The error due to sampling for results based on the entire sample could be plus or minus three percentage points. Sampling error for subgroups may be higher. For detailed information on how CBS News conducts public opinion surveys, click here. Not sure how links work, but the above "click here" can be found at the bottom of the page linked, if it doesn't work. Could you try really hard to find that poll that indicated 75% against now? Please?

Sheesh, a poll of 1,049 adults. In America? Yeah well, the only way to get a conclusive poll is to ask everyone. It all depends as Clueless said, all the variables of the question. But 1,049 adults. Give me strength |

2003-03-19 21:02:00 | Yeah, read how random the poll was by clicking the link at the bottom of the page as to how they conduct their polls. Suprising really that the didn't find the 75% of the population that are oposed to takeing action in Iraq. Maybe they were all at protest meetings? | Danger (287) | |
