129153 2003-03-18 07:05:00 I am having trouble after installing XP Professional upgrade getting programme to accept my modem. I understand that I have installed a compatible XP driver. Any help appreciated. Dharc Dharc (3396)
129154 2003-03-18 07:30:00 Could we have more specifics. Like what exactly is the modem doing wrong. Does it work? Has it told you it has rejected the drivers? Does it see the modem in the hardware list? Pheonix (280)
129155 2003-03-18 22:49:00 Thankyou for your reply. After running Win98SE for some years, decided to move up to XP using an upgrade to XP Professional . After a flawless upgrade over Win SE picking up all Progs/Applications, I then rebooted. Found I could not d/l any messageswhich until now had been working normally under Win 98.Reinstalled modem plus new Driver for XP, got message modem installed sucessfully. Rebooted and opened Outlook Express and got cannot find modem. Meantime have uninstalled back to Win 98 which is working normally. Hence my frustrated call for help. Dharc. Dharc (3396)
129156 2003-03-18 23:06:00 Don't worry about Outlook Express at the moment, leave that closed.

Go to Start/ Control panels
Click on Phone and Modem
Click on Modems tab, is the installed modem showing
Click on Properties at the bottom, check device status.
Click on Diagnostics Tab and Query Modem

If this check is OK bring up the dialup connect screen, Start/Connect to/ISP connection.
Click on dial and note any error messages or error number.

129157 2003-03-19 06:08:00 Hi Jim,
Tks for your suggestion, have tried it but recd message cannot locate modem . Do you know if some PCI modems are not compatible with XP, or do I need a special XP modem. The modem I am using is a Intel HAM Voice and fax(Cnet). Thanks again.

129158 2003-03-19 06:26:00 Did that message appear when you selected Query modem.
If so the modem is not instaled correctly.
