| 128753 | 2003-03-17 07:14:00 | My daughter is using KaZaa to downooad Charmed files which claim to be avi (picture files). However when I open the file (despite it being labelled as an Video Clip, there is no picture, just sound. Sometimes I get a warning saying there is a codec fault, then the PC gets the appropiate file to open the avi file, but we still do not receive video, just sound. The default opening program is MS Media player that comes with WinXP. Of the 5 files downloaded, just 1 has turned out to include video, the rest nothing but sound. Appreciate your assistance. Thanks......John. |

Most AVI files require a Codec called "DivX" to display the video part of the file (The audio is usually readable through audio codecs already installed with Windows). If you don't have DivX installed, that would explain why you get audio but no video. Check out DivX.com to download the codec, and once it's installed the AVI files should display correctly.
