| 129397 | 2003-03-19 02:07:00 | PC Direct Discovery 580 series Pentium166 MMX 64MbRam. I would like to upgrade my computer's memory from 64 to 128 RAM but am unsure what sort of RAM this machine has. Question 1: How can I find out ? Then next question 2 relates to upgrading. Is it a simple matter of just of opening the case and adding another stick of 64 RAM or is it more complicated than that? Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks. Smurf. | Smurf (506) | ||
| 129398 | 2003-03-19 02:19:00 | It will probably be 72 pin EDO SIMM memory, which will need to be installed in pairs for a Pentium . You might find this in a shop, but it would be much cheaper at trademe auction (or other private sale) . Fitting is not difficult, but be very careful not to break the plastic latches on the sockets, and to earth yourself before doing it . Never touch the gold (or tin) plated contacts on the modules . If you can buy from someone local, they will probably be happy to install it for you . |
