| 130043 | 2003-03-22 05:34:00 | I am using XP Pro SP1 with an ASUS CRW-4816A CD writer flashed to the latest BIOS rev 1.13. The problem is that when I insert a CDR that has been previously written (data files), Explorer can't see anything on the CDR. No errors - just looks like a blank. The same CDR can be read no problem by two other CDROM drives. However, Nero can see the files OK. And if I fire up Nero, then close it, Explorer can then read the files until the CD gets ejected then the problem repeats. I have tried Google searches and the ASUS site but nothing useful could I find. TIA. |

If you have flashed the CDR with an updated firmware that is not perfectly supported by the CDR hardware revision, any number of things can go wrong. Perhaps this is one of them? CD firmware changes often reflect actual hardware changes in the device. |
