| 130440 | 2003-03-24 07:52:00 | I recently set up my wifes' computer at home, it had previeously been operated from a different city, and since setting it up here the password is no longer remembered in the dial-Up window and the 'remember password' is greyed out. Can anyone give any clues as to why this has happened? She has windows98 on her computer. | Johnfb (2676) | ||
| 130441 | 2003-03-24 07:58:00 | Open up Internet Explorer (offline) and go (top menu) Tools>Internet Options>Connections (tab at the top) and highlight your connection you use by clicking on it. Now click the properties button. You will see the name and password spaces which you will enter your log on name and password. Then just OK out of there. Close Explorer. Now try. | Pheonix (280) | ||

| 130443 | 2003-03-24 08:22:00 | If the "Save Password" checkbox is inaccessible, it is because "Client for Microsoft Networks" hasn't been installed in the Network area of the Control Panel . To enable this checkbox, you have to install the "Client for Microsoft Networks" . Note that you may need your Windows 98 CD to install components of the Windows operating system . Click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Network Click on the [Add . . . ] button and choose "Client" then click on the [Add . . . ] button . Choose "Microsoft" and "Client for Microsoft Networks" . Click the various [Ok] buttons until the installation process has finished . At this point, you'll be prompted to restart Windows . When Windows starts back up, you may be prompted to enter in a Windows login and password . If you want, you can leave the password blank - doing this will stop this login prompt this login prompt from appearing in the future . You should now be able to check the "Save Password" checkbox when you connect . Your password will be "saved" after you have obtained a successful connection . |
