Hey!
I've got a few downloaded files or files taken off pcworld cds...i always save to disk....and i've got all my downloaded files in 1 folder..and some of the files are, log on loader exe and winamp...msn messenger..trillian..and so on...and my hard drive is only 2gig to be full....and i wanna clear out some of the unnessercary files....and now i got 4 gig free...and was jsut looking at these....since the program is installed..can i remvoe the exe file from this folder...and the program will still run?... |

If it is in the folder with the program name then no. The exe file is the one that starts and controls the program. Without...she no start :( |

But if it is the file you clicked to INSTALL the program, then it can be removed. If in doubt, right click the file and rename it. For example, frog.exe can be changed to frog.bak . Then if the sh*t hits the fan, you can rename it back again to frog.exe and all will be sweet again. |

Almost all download packages will install to a different place. So your download directory should be safe to empty out. If you are worried, either rename the files as suggested, or run them. If an installation process, you can kill that and know the file is just the installer. :D |
