1332663 2013-03-17 01:04:00 Depends on the problem with the Operating system, Sometimes doing a straight clone fails as the software cant handle the corruptions, this could be any cloning software.

Doing an Image seems to work when cloning doesn't. Had it before, cloning a corrupted drive and after an hour ( LOTS OF DATA) it fails :( Image it instead and it works.

Active @ doesn't force you to image at all, when you open the program all the options appear, something has to be selected for it to do

1332664 2013-03-17 01:17:00 Going to different hardware is always a bit tricky and it's not uncommon to see a BSOD. When HIR completes it shows you a log and you can see how close the driver match was, if it's 'low' should probably inject the correct driver and replace it. Also need to run check disk before you reboot the PC.

You can re-run HIR and replace the bad drivers without restarting the whole process. That PDF I posted earlier has all this information in it.

Tried quite a few, been the most impressed with Active@ out of everything tried, thanks Wainui for your knowledge there.

1332666 2013-04-02 20:44:00 Yep saw that CY, The account is under the guys name so I'll have to see if he wants to, but I doubt he will, this software has lost all creditability.

But just had a "Play" with , dissimilar hardware -- total failure, just finished installing a XP machine, nothing on it except XP and all current updates - Imaged it to a USB Drive , (That went perfectly fine) then put the image onto another workshop PC as a trial, made sure the boxes were checked for dis-similar hardware,

As per the instruction manual,
4863

Original has Intel Board onboard everything, going to a Gigabyte onboard everything both Socket 775.

Laid it down Ok, but on bootup, blue screens and endless reboot, even in safe mode its a no go :groan:

You can boot the PC from a bootable CD like ERD Commander or linux and see all the files/folders etc.

Sorry but this software is to unreliable.

I'll stick to software I can trust thanks all the same. :)

PS: If you put the original image back on the original PC using another HDD it went perfectly fine, but not on dis-similar hardware.

I would of selected the MBR from the image file...as their is no original windows MBR

1332667 2013-04-02 20:45:00 If anything it shows that you need to check your backups and don't just assume that because the software says the backup completed ok that you'll actually be able to restore your data.
I always mount the backup image once it's complete and make sure it's possible to browse the data.

Isnt their a setting to check each backup?
