1332643 2013-03-14 20:21:00 Yes Warnox, as far as I can see they were the same.

Once I fixed the boot loader with the Windows 7 Repair CD it ran fine (shadow protect)

GARY --- Active@ booted correctly every time no problems.

off to do a job - catch ya's later :)I meant you had 2 pictures loaded but the second one disappeared again

1332644 2013-03-14 22:03:00 Yea Wainui not sure what you are doing wrong as I have never ever seen that screen before, not even in normal day to day repairs done without ShadowProtect.:confused:

And I did say the IT Edition costs an arm and a leg :D
I only bought it as they were doing a very very good deal a few years ago, my license doesn't expire until 2015.
They do have a deal going at the moment too but not as good as when I bought it.
I use it ever single day though so it was worth the money, and it's great to be able to take a full backup image of a customers server if you are going to do any major work on it.

1332645 2013-03-14 22:15:00 The IT edition is worth every cent if you're doing hardware migrations. Alex B (15479)
1332646 2013-03-14 22:44:00 I meant you had 2 pictures loaded but the second one disappeared again Yep I removed it because it was showing the MAC address, which I didn't want anyone spoofing so to speak. wainuitech (129)
1332647 2013-03-15 01:50:00 Acronis -- yuck yuck and double yuck :D

I have been using this for years but the 2012 update is indeed crap.

1332648 2013-03-15 02:48:00 Well this is strange-- I have "finally" got Shadow Protect to work, but somethings not quite right with it.

What I've discovered is if you leave the checkbox - under Hardware Independent restore UNTICKED it wont boot and needs the W7 repair CD to fix it. If you tick it then it works OK.
The stupid thing is the image made was going back on the same hardware, nothing has changed, same HDD everything.

To test this I did 4 recovery's, wiping the drive each time, unticked didn't work, tick it and it works OK.

Weird.

Still needs a bit of "improving" when imaging back multi partitions though. It does have a lot of operations, but I'll stick with what I use and does work without all the mucking about.

BTW CYaBro --that window you commented on

Thats the W7 repair CD, when it finds a fault if you click on View Details it tells you whats wrong. :)

1332649 2013-03-15 10:58:00 Which version of ShadowProtect are you using btw? WarNox (8772)
1332650 2013-03-15 11:10:00 oh and are you booting from the Recovery Environment CD? WarNox (8772)
1332651 2013-03-15 21:18:00 What does everyone use for cloning faulty drives? I have tried a lot of different products & different versions of those products, but the only one with a clone option on the boot CD that actually works with a bad drive most of the time is Acronis True Image 2009 Greven (91)
1332652 2013-03-15 21:42:00 Mmm

I may be a bit old fashioned
But I like to do my backups Manually

I copy them from my D drive to an internal E drive and an external drive.

I Use Windows to do it. Copy ad Paste.

I don't trust all these compressed and propriety formats
And I don't really understand images.
