1306753 2012-10-14 19:38:00 Every device I have ever set up has required a Gmail account to be entered before you can access the device functionality....

I just recently updated my GS to Jellybean - didn't have ANY 'Gapps' as Chill mentioned. But was still able to access Internet (via both Wireless and 3G), txt, call and take photos / video etc. All without a Gmail entered anywhere.

1306754 2012-10-14 20:16:00 Well full marks for "Doing it the hard way" I suppose?

Sync to Gmail and they're instantly readable on the Desktop, not to mention there are also export options

;)

Would you be kind enough to explain how I can get my call & message logs to be readable on my pc desktop using the Gmail method.

If you install one of the apps suggested above by Chill or myself (read the blurb for the apps on Google Play to understand how they work), and run through the setup options, all will become clear.

However, from reading your posts these apps may not be exactly what you're after, since these don't produce one file containing all the data - they are emails per call/SMS record...

If you want your SMS messages, you're probably best off with DeskSMS, it's an app from the Play Store.
