1307342 2012-10-18 05:04:00 Thanks for all your inputs. I'm inclined
to think it could be a bad (corroded)
connection at the UHF aerial end.
Shall get on the roof when the weather
settles and have a look.

1307343 2012-10-18 09:26:00 You said that you were having problems with TV1. If that is the case then it is your VHF aerial that may have a problem, not your UHF. The UHF aerial is for stations such as Prime. The VHF is for TVs 1, 2, 3 and 4.

One of the places that I have found corrodes the most is the junction box where the two aerial leads are joined. Open that up and have a look. That may be your problem.

1307344 2012-10-19 05:51:00 I only have one aerial which is UHF.
As I said before this was good for all channels
for at least 3 years. It's only in the two months
that we can not record Coro St. I think as you said
that it could be the conn. on the aerial being corroded.
Still not happy with the weather for a roof job.

1307345 2012-10-20 08:43:00 I only have one aerial which is UHF. Good probably equals 'marginal' because a UHF antenna has very poor signal capture for VHF and especially so for channels 1 & 2 (1 is TV1 Waikato and 2 is TV1 Auckland). If your UHF channels are OK then the antenna is fine, and being flat, Papakura is not a bad reception area because most of it is line of sight' to the transmitter on the Waitakeres.

I lived there for some years and TV1 was fine on rabbit ears. In fact I'd find a set of rabbit ears or make up a TV1 ribbon antenna and you'll probably be OK until they shut down VHF; but better you take a leap of faith and buy a Freeview decoder.

Cheers
