| 1332793 | 2013-03-15 01:45:00 | I am trying to help an elderly friend update her laptop running Vista basic and am having a dickens of a time trying to instal SP1 as she hasn't been updating automatically...got as far a SP1 and it continues to say it has updated but then goes back and does it again! I've searched many threads and tried several of the fixes from the Microsoft website , including running the Readiness tool but still the same problem. Trying fix 8, (Wainui's ideas ), didn't work either although I remember using it on another systen a couple of years back with excellent results. I've scanned and chkdsk but still the same problem. What am I missing? I'm googled out and Microsoft wants to shove Windows 8 in very mix before their site is very helpful. This lady is elderly and can't afford a new system so I'd like to help her if I can. Many thanks. |

| 1332797 | 2013-03-15 04:54:00 | Many thanks for ideas. I have downloaded onto a usb for the second time, fter running two microsoft fixit files for a second time. Maybe the previous file was faulty because this time around it has taken a small lifetime and onde the deed! Hallelujah! Now fingers crossed for SP2. | jwig (15664) | ||
