| 130519 | 2003-03-24 13:04:00 | I just had the thought that many F1 users have commercial sites, that could always do with a bit more traffic . The major search engine Google, which is responsible for 78% of all the world's Internet searches, use a site's popularity (how many other sites link to it) as part of it's algorithm when it decides how high to rank it . How about all of us that have commercial sites each add everyone's else's site link on one of our pages? If anyone agrees with this idea, just relist your site on this thread, and everyone who lists their site here, must in turn add everyone else's link . Great idea or ridiculous? |

Bit of both Greg The obvious flaw is that alot of those links would be blatently inappropriate, so perhaps a links page could be created that has links to all who agree to have it on their sites? I for one would NOT put a huge list of links on the top of my index page. I'm happy to link to my other projects, the photography page of a freind who has provided images, and my better halfs work. .Clueless |

But today Google is the world's favourite (Being used by Yahoo, Netscape and AOL as well) and part of their success is the accuracy of their results, with paid links being quite distinct from the search results. Cluless - yeah, it would be a bit tacky, like you see on amateur pages of old, to have a lot of irrelevent links. I'd put mine on an obscure standalone page, just so there are at least the live links, but who cares if nobody saw the page. |
