| 131205 | 2003-03-26 18:52:00 | Has anybody used their computer as a video recorder, just what program is worth recording is a hard question, the modem USA comedy is so dry. Anyway what computer do have and how much space would a half hour program need? |

| 131206 | 2003-03-26 22:32:00 | you'll need a capture program, and a capture card (or a video card with VIVO). most capture cards come with a basic capture program, if not you might want to invest in a decent video editing program like premiere (EXPENSIVE!!!) or look around for a free option (www.digital-digest.com) You will also want a fairly decent computer, 1 - 1.5GHz at least with a big bag of ram. This way you can encode to divx on the fly. uncompressed avi takes up a large amount of hard drive space. If your computer is not powerful enough to encode divx on the fly, then try the intel indeo codec, and then recompress to divx. some sites to look at: www.divx-digest.com www.doom9.org <-- get another program called gordians knot from there, it has a high learning curve but is VERY powerful and can give some of the best encoding results out there. |

| 131208 | 2003-03-27 00:58:00 | Id recommend that you record at 320x240 resolution, coz its good enough quality if you're sending it back to your PC or running it in Full-Screen. Most Music Video's that you can download off the web are saved in a 320x240 res at about 31fps and they're fine! Usually, the Mpeg's are about 50 megs for a 5 minute vid, and DivX gives better quality at a lower Meg/Minute but you'll need a faster machine to save them etc. HTH :-) Chilling_Silence |

| 131210 | 2003-03-27 01:43:00 | You'll be able to buy one soon. But it seems that the most worthwhile feature won't be included in the production recorders. :_| How would you like a prompt: "Would you like to never see this advertisment again?", and a "YES" button? Right. :D Certain lobbying groups don't think that consumers should have any such option. |
