2003-04-29 22:18:00 | Misty, My DSE 7916 ADSL/Router is now working just fine. But the only way to get it to work in the end was to have the full Telecom Install with a splitter and have Telecom measure the signal strength at the house. The signal was too weak to have the self- install by using the filters on each phone in the house. I went round all the jackpoints in the House and could not get the ADSL light to establish a connection, but now that Telecom have done the install - am away laughing. The signal is below Telecom's target limit, but still seems to work faster than dial-up. Did you try using Telecom's "test your line" for Jetstream where you enter your phone number and get the results advising if the service is available in your area? For my area it did state that Jetstream was available but the Full Telecom install was recommended. In my case, "This peice of advise has proved to be a pivotal point in getting the service up & Running" Use this link to the Telecom Test page. www.telecom.co.nz

2003-04-30 05:55:00 | I assume "Misty" has tried removing all the other phone equipment from the outlets so that the only item drawing anything from the phoneline is the router... Another random idea...

2003-04-30 10:13:00 | Milkbottle - Great to hear that you are up and running ! Am pleased for you. By the way, we have the same model router. :D I assume "Misty" has tried removing all the other phone equipment from the outlets so that the only item drawing anything from the phoneline is the router... Yes, Whiskeyfoxtrottango, I did do that already when I tested what the godfather had suggested, thanks. Peter C visiting tomorrow so I will report back. Fingers crossed.

2003-05-01 09:22:00 | That is great news Misty! :D:D You certainly had a rough start with it all. What was the problem in the end that Peter sorted out? Cheers Jen

2003-05-01 10:10:00 | I don't know yet Jen C. Peter and I could not be here at the same time so as soon as I can get hold of him then one of us will let you know. I have one little query - down in the bar at the bottom where I have Internet Explorer etc there has appeared a box entitled "mixer". I do not think it is connected in any way with Jetstart or the router (but maybe it is). It does not maximise or anything but just sits there. The only change I have made recently (apart from Jetstart) is to download IrfanView. Perhaps that ? or is it some type of Ad Ware ?

It does sound like something associated with your sound options. But if it has only just appeared, it could be related to the router - try disconnecting the router connection from the PC and see if anything happens to the symbol. I have InfraView and I don't recall having any strange additions to my task bar at any stage, so I don't think it is that. Failling all that, have a nosey at your Start up list using Start > Run > msconfig (enter). Under the Start Up tab is there anything called mixer? There should be a file path listed which may shed more light on it. Running Adaware would not hurt either - especially since you'll now be zooming all over the net with your fast connection :-) Jen |

2003-05-02 06:01:00 | Hi Irfanview has a video & sound plugin (Options > Properties > video&sound tab) but I don't know if this includes a mixer as I have not enabled mine. Want to try yours Jen? Cheers Murray P
