131189 2003-03-26 11:13:00 Hi Guys

Have reformatted and reinstalled a Panasonic ToughBook laptop with Windows 95.
Have managed to download most of the drivers from the net but have 2 main areas holding me up.

Firstly the CD ROM (a TEAC CD-220EA) will autorun a normal software disk but will not even recognise a burnt disk - it did this before the reinstall and off course all my backups are burnt to cd.

Secondly under Device Manager those friendly exclamation marks are beside Other devices and list PCI Bridge, PCI Universal Serial Bus, and Unsupported Device all having problems - I have not been supplied with any other system disks and not really sure what to look for driver-wise.
The Panasonic site has only sound, video and PCMCIA drivers - although I found the sound drivers did not work.

It is a Pentium MMX system.

Any input greatly appreciated.

Regards
Mark

131190 2003-03-26 11:27:00 you need to find the motherboard drivers. find what chipset it uses and get the drivers from the chipset manafactures web site. the sound drivers may work after the motherboard drivers are installed. tweak'e (174)
131191 2003-03-26 11:36:00 Your CD ROM could be of the older type which (because CDR's were rare and design considerations didn't cover CDR's) will not recognise burnt CD's. If you don't know what MOBO is in the PC, search and download a prog called aida32 , it may give you more info. But it does sound like you need MOBO drivers as tweake said. Pheonix (280)

Hello Mark

Don’t know if you know this all reday ;), but not many software companies support win 95 & Microsoft does not supply help or updates for win 95.....

I suggest that you think about upgrading your OS to something like 98se or win ME..... some time soon :)
