2003-03-28 07:58:00 | I've been a regular ICQer since 1998, & have upgraded several versions until settling on 2001a. I stayed with that after hearing adverse opinions of the later ones. But I do know later versions do have advantages, like the contact list being installed on the server, rather than on one's own system, and so being available from any PC and when one reinstalls or formats. I would appreciate opinions from experienced ICQ users about the latest ICQ 2002, 2003 versions. With thanks, Bazza.

2003-03-28 09:26:00 | I have 2002a and I can't stand the advertising that comes at the bottom of the message window. It drives me nuts. My previous version was advertising free. Oxie

2003-03-28 09:29:00 | there are add killers which will remove the adds but if i remeber correctly you can only do it on a fresh icq install.(ie not used) | tweak'e (174) | |
2003-03-28 09:43:00 | Thanks Oxie . . your 2002a is much later than mine . . even my 2001a had the adverts at the bottom of the msg window . . doesn't bother me . . I just move them to lower down, & so not seen . Apart from that Oxie, do you have any comments . Would be appreciated .

2003-03-28 10:37:00 | i use icqlite because i dont need the rest of the irritating bloat that the full version comes with. if i used the icq service more frequently though, I would probably be using trillian...

2003-03-28 11:29:00 | I've got 2002a, which I don't really like as much as 2001 version - there were things that 2001 did which 2002 doesn't seem to do for some reason. I don't see any ads though - either because the HOSTS file blocks them, or because NIS2003 blocks them. Mike.

2003-03-28 12:10:00 | I stick to using trillian. If I use another client it's usually ICQlite or http://go.icq.com | -=JM=- (16) | |
2003-03-28 13:29:00 | I uses 2001b, which i think its my fav version of all. the reason that i dont like the other verisons because even u close the icq it still sits on on your task bar.(very annoying). 2001b also saves your contact on their server as well.

2003-03-28 19:11:00 | > I stick to using trillian. If I use another client Here here. Trillian is such a small little facing, which hosts all six chat programs. It has the ability to create a "new user" and securely store all contacts in customised lists. Take a look at Trillian (www.ceruleanstudios.com) for yourself. You might just like it better. With the ability to find and use various skins, and the lack of advertising you will be impressed. "The current version of Trillian is .74D. This version of Trillian is completely free, with no ads and no spyware." radz:p
