131606 2003-03-28 04:38:00 Recently my computor has taken it upon itself to dial up and connect to the internet. One brutal solution is to disconnect the phone line.
What causes the unrequested connection ??
Am I able to trace the destination of the connection??
Have I picked up a virus or spayware ??

131608 2003-03-28 04:49:00 I would expect it to be spyware or some such thing.

run adaware over your system .

then run msconfig and look in the startup tab to see if there is anything that looks bad.

131609 2003-03-28 06:57:00 Run spybot as well lots of dubious adult sites attempt to hijack your connection as well kiwibeat (304)
131610 2003-03-28 07:07:00 If win95/98 go to My computer and look in folder called Dial UP Networking. Although, they usually hide it somewhere cunning. Best program for this is Spybot, as it picks up the diallers better for any of the M$ operating systems. I use both adaware and spybot, they compliment each other, as one makes up for the weakness of the other. Pheonix (280)

Best way to stop it is to go and set your Dial Up Connection to Never Dial a connection. This way when you are ready to make the connection you can do it manually and close it when done.
