131515 2003-03-28 02:41:00 Running Windows ME. Entire tower replaced after lightning strike. Now when booting with the printer switched on, it picks up a sheet of paper, then the error light blinks. The screen tells me Windows is updating the hardware information (before the desktop appears) then the system locks up. Pressing Ctrl/alt/Del brings up the programs running with "not responding" after updating hardware information. I have deleted and reinstalled the printer and got the latest driver from HP but no cure. If I switch the printer on after booting it works OK but tells me with each job to align the colour cartridge and then that a new cartridge has been installed. Bluedun (3465)
131516 2003-03-28 03:22:00 I don't think the printer should behave like that.:D

Perhaps it got a bit of damage too, when the computer was zapped. Can you add it to your insurance claim?

131517 2003-03-28 03:34:00 Can you print a test page direct from the printer?

Sounds like it's fried to me.

Cheers

131518 2003-03-28 07:49:00 hi,Bluedun...just a thought, can you try the printer on a different computer ? That would determine if it is a problem stemming from your computer or the printer it self...
cheers

131519 2003-04-06 05:24:00 Yes I can print a test page. When I swith it on the diode lights, no further action, but immediately I press the computers on switch the printer picks up a sheet of paper, goes into error mode, then out of it, the diode blinks as though it is printing, then the error light blinks again. Pressing the error button ejects the paper. I can then print OK but I get a message saying a new cartridge is installed and another saying a cartridge needs aligning. Two way communication is OK.
