What is a good resolution? It must be high enough to print (not just for on screen use)

I can't recommend any scanners from personal experience as I only have a basic one - but the site below has been recommended on this forum as a great source of information on scanning and scanners and may answer many of your questions on dpi quality etc.

131503 2003-03-28 06:23:00 I use a old Microtek scsi scanner and its brilliant picked it up very cheap too off trademe.co.nz $17 mind you my scsi card was about $150 . kiwibeat (304)
131504 2003-03-28 10:16:00 Depending on what you want to do, even the cheapest scanners nowadays is more than enough for basic home use.

They will be good enough for emailing to friends/family, posting on the web, burning to CD for sending to people, or storing. It will basically be good enough for most home use.

Just remember, not all scanners are compatible with WinXP, so be careful when buying if you have a WinXP computer.
